Our History
History: In 1961, Madison Bagby bought an International TD-9 bulldozer and started what is now known as Bagby Enterprises, Inc. Madison, born in Escondido, grew up on a homestead near Wilson Valley, attended Cottonwood School near Anza, and graduated from Hemet High School in 1941. After serving as a B-17 pilot in WWII, Madison and his wife Margaret settled in the Sage area South of Hemet.

Madison, a native son and outdoor enthusiast, quickly became known for his expertise in creating new roads and grading house sites that blended well with the natural topography. As Hemet, San Jacinto, Temecula and surrounding areas began to grow rapidly in the 60’s and 70’s, demand for bulldozing and earthwork services increased as more and more people moved out of the cities to own a few acres and live in a rural area. Even in their early childhood days Madison Jr. “Matt” and David, Madison’s two sons, could be seen helping Dad with the tractors. When the boys weren’t helping Dad they were busy playing and practicing their tractor skills. Soon after high school Matt and David went to work for their Dad and eventually took over the business after Madison’s retirement.
Today Bagby Enterprises, Inc. operates much the same way it always has: putting the customer first, being honest and cost-effective while working to preserve the natural landscape whenever possible.
Vision - It is our vision to provide reliable, consistent earthwork services, and to build solid client relationships by offering long-term, cost-effective soil, grading and firebreak and storm water solutions that also protect and restore native habitats.
Mission -Our mission is to provide each client with a wholistic “big picture” approach to each job. Using our experience and knowledge of the local area, we align customer needs and expectations with the environmental considerations of the surrounding area. We especially believe in preserving our native vegetation wherever possible.
Values -Our goal is to be honest and provide each client the most complete information and well thought out counsel regarding City and County regulations; earth engineering and soil restoration; water, fire, and land management; septic and graywater consultation; native habitat preservation and restoration…all to insure an efficient, cost-effective job that includes the best possible stewardship of natural resources.
